Renowned French designer based in Paris and trained under Marc Newson and Andrée Putman, Inga Sempé showcases her passion for crafting everyday objects with simple, sensitive lines through her collaborations with major Italian, Scandinavian, and French design houses. With Revol, she discovered a rich material—porcelain—and a manufactory that takes the technical sophistication of each object to new heights, all while preserving the apparent simplicity of the design.
"I wanted a friendly object, not one that lectures you, something that allows you to make plenty of mistakes!"
The new Bombance line is an invitation to the joy of eating and sharing a meal around a convivial object that brings people together: the cocotte.
Who better than Inga Sempé, with her love for brasserie-style cuisine far removed from haute gastronomy, to reimagine this iconic piece? By giving the renowned designer free rein, Revol reaffirms its commitment to culinary culture, transforming the cocotte into a centerpiece of tableware artistry.
Bombance is the chosen name for the collection. It not only references the rounded shape of the cocotte but also evokes the festive spirit of the expression "faire bombance"—a joyful meal where laughter, good food, and fun come together.
The uniqueness of the design lies in the rim encircling the body, giving the Bombance cocotte its reassuring roundness. This band extends seamlessly from the body to form durable, single-piece handles—a seemingly simple idea, yet one that is technically intricate.
The lid handle is integrated into a cavity called the "piscine," ensuring it doesn’t protrude from the rounded lid and is protected within its hollow from mechanical shocks. The dimples inside the lid evenly distribute droplets formed by condensation, preventing the dish from drying out. Inga Sempé also used these dimples to spell out "Revol," adding a touch of character to the upturned lid.
